The CLOUDCYCLE Vision

The Internet of Services is a platform that bundles baseline services, such as online shopping, booking flights or search engines, into value-added servcies and enables services to be offered via market places. Cloud computing offers a scalable and cost-efficient platform for offering services and managing their infrastructure. Despite these advantages, SMEs and the public sector still make only limited use of clouds and cloud-based services because of a lack of guaranteed security and compliance, on the one hand, and inexistent interoperability between different cloud providers on the other hand.

CLOUDCYCLE enables cloud providers to offer their services with guaranteed security and compliance (i.e., compliance with laws, regulations and data protection/privacy requirements) in a cost-efficient and scalable manner for clients in SMEs and the public sector. In contrast to existing solutions, CLOUDCYCLE offers protection throughout the entire life cycle of these services: By means of meta data, solution providers and service providers can specify the security guarantees of services and the concomitant requirements for the run-time environment. Moreover, they can also make services available as well as migrate them between providers in a fully automated way. By ensuring a safe environment for the operation of services and the infrastructure, CLOUDCYCLE creates a scalable runtime environment for the Internet of Services.
